The California Poppy is a perennial and annual plant, native to the United States. It is the official state flower of California and April 6 is designated as California Poppy Day. California Poppy leaves were used medicinally by Native Americans and the pollen was used cosmetically. The seeds are used for cooking. Its golden blooms are a fitting symbol for the golden state.
